About the coalition

TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Transparency and accountability are the hallmarks of good government. The Alabama Open Records Law exists to ensure government is accountable to the people and should guarantee access to government information, unless there is an important governmental interest in protecting the information.

IT'S YOUR RIGHT.

The public has a right to access and review the data used by its elected leaders to make policy decisions. Further, accessible government records enable the free press to keep the public informed and engaged in the democratic process.
